 House Bank with Plastic Canvas

Plastic Canvas Projects - Plastic Canvas House Bank - Free Craft Pattern
Plastic Canvas Projects - Plastic Canvas House Bank - Free Craft Pattern

What a cute idea for creating a bank from plastic canvas! This bank looks just like a quaint house and will look great in the den or a child's room.
Coins are deposited through the chimney. How fun is that!

I can imagine this pattern done so many different ways. Using different colors would change its looks but what if you made the house 3 or 4 squares wider and 2 or 3 squares shorter? You could even add a sign over the door that says "Your Name Bank"

If you make this project please share your photos with us. If we use them on our website or on Facebook you will get 15% off of your next order over $25!

BUSHES

Plastic Canvas House Bank Pattern Pieces
Cut 2 sets of bushes.

1. Stitch all of the parts using diagrams for color changes. Leave the edges unfinished for whipstitching and overcasting.
2. Whipstitch the 4 sides of the house together. Use an overcast stitch on the top 4 edges of the house.
3. Overcast the 3 outsides of each of the 2 roof pieces. Whipstitch the roof peak together. Then fit onto the house and use your curved upholstery needle to anchor stitch at the house corners and roof tops. Use your hot glue gun to help secure the roof to the house.
4. Use overcast stitch on the inner edges of the house bottom and then whipstitch the bottom piece to the bottom of the house
5. Whipstitch the long sides of the chimney together and then use an overcast stitch around the top chimney openings. Use your curved upholstery needle to whipstitch the chimney to the roof. Secure with hot glue.

6. Overcast the edges of the door and all of the shutters and you can either use hot glue or for a more secure attachment use your curved upholstery needle to attach each one to your house according to the photo at the top of the page.
7. Overcast the edges of your bushes and glue them to the house in various places.
8. For the bottom of the bank you will sew the front edge of the house to one of the grass pieces. The other grass piece will form the hinged opening at the bottom of your bank. To make the hinge place the 2nd grass piece to the house bottom, matching the top piece and whipstitch together, leaving a place unstitched in the back wide enough to remove money from. This is where you will use your piece of ribbon to tie your bank shut.
9. Add details with your foam sheets to create flowers, lamp and doorknob.

You can easily elaborate on this pattern to make it your own unique creation. Add a lamp post, a pet or even sit a "hot wheels" style car on the grass.
